Redemption in Jesus

For this Christian Studies Assignment I have chosen the topic Redemption In Jesus because I believe it is by far the most important lesson taught to us by God, through Jesus. The reason I have chosen this topic is because it shows how much Jesus cares for us and he show what eternal amount of love he has through sacrificing himself on the cross to take away all our sins, when I say ‘our’ I mean everyone’s sins even the sins of the people who nailed him to the cross he even states in Luke 23:34 as he dies he cries out “Farther, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

The Old Testament is the book, which tells us about God and what he did and what he planned for the future. In short the Old Testament is 1 big prophecy.

What the Old Testament teaches us about the Redemption in Jesus is that he will come down from heaven in the form of a human to fulfil 44 prophecies and be sacrificed for our sin. Here are some examples of prophecies that Jesus fulfilled: ‘He would be born of a woman’ Genesis 3:15. ‘ He would be born in Bethlehem’ Micah 5:2. ‘He would be rejected by his own people’ Isaiah 53:3. ‘He would be betrayed’ Zechariah 11:12-13. And the last one I have chosen was ‘Messiah would be a sacrifice for sin’ Isaiah 53:5-12. The last prophecy that I have mentioned is the main and the last prophecy, because it is the final thing that God planned for Jesus, this just shows us how much God loves us because he would send his one and only son to be sacrificed for “our” sin. The crucifixion was prophesised in scripture 1,000 years before Jesus Christ was born.

The New Testament is the book where the Son of God (Jesus) is born and basically fulfils the prophecies 1 by one, until his death on the cross to take away our sin.

The main thing in the Redemption in Jesus is definitely when he surrendered or sacrificed his life for us he did this because of all the sin we have committed and like various examples like shirt example told to us in Chapel. The dotted shirt example is where every time you sin you gain one more black dot on your shirt and when you finish your life your shirt will almost be fully black and when you try to get into heaven God doesn’t allow you to get to heaven because of all the sins you have committed but then out of no where comes Jesus with a ‘pure’ white shirt, takes it off and hands it to you. He says, “Here take my shirt and give me yours”. This means that Jesus is taking blame for all of your sins and now receives all of Gods wrath while you have a free ticket into heaven, he doesn’t do this just for you but for everyone in the world. That is called Redemption.

In conclusion I believe that the Redemption in Jesus is how he sacrificed himself to take away our sin and saved us and gave us a free ticket into heaven. This is taught through the prophecies in the Old Testament and it is taught through the events in Jesus life (Mathew, Mark, Luke, John). Jesus was perfect so for him to be giving us his ‘white shirt’ in exchange for our dotted ‘black shirt’ is basically the most respectable redemption that could ever be completed.

Why did Jesus sacrifice himself for us when we had committed such bad things prior to the crucifixion?

Why did God send his only son?

Way before why did God create a tree of knowledge that Adam and Eve could eat from and gain this sinful knowledge?
